Audio Trials
So my first forays into mixing music have taught me that I know very little about audio technology and the behavior of digital sound. I’ve been recording mixes that I perform live in Traktor, and then post-processing them in Audacity. I can get the levels sounding pretty good during the live mix (at least in my headphones), but when I listen to the WAV of the recording, the mix sounds flat and dull.
I’ve been messing around with adjusting the sound in Audacity, but what sounds okay in my phones, lacks depth and brightness in my car or stereo. I can never get the mix as bright and crisp and punchy as I want it. Hopefully there are some good tutorials around.
Freelon is preparing an exhibit for MIT’s School of Architecture + Planning. The exhibit title is REACH - The Architecture of Freelon. Scheduled to open February 15, 2012 at the Wolk Gallery, the exhibit will feature ten projects that exemplify the reach of Freelon design. Our studio is busy preparing models, illustrations and virtual experiences for visitors to the exhibit. A web site will also be coming soon with additional information. Stay tuned …
